The collaboration between Swatch and Omega reaches a new technical milestone with the Mission to Earthphase model, reference SO33M700. This edition introduces a world first in the history of watchmaking by combining a traditional moon phase indicator with an Earth phase indicator. The latter, positioned at 10 o’clock, illustrates the movement of our planet as observed from the lunar surface. The rotating mechanism turns anti-clockwise to reflect the true astronomical dynamics. The dial features a grey, grainy texture reminiscent of our natural satellite. This model builds on the Speedmaster’s heritage by offering a unique temporal and spatial reading.
Case, movement and strap of this Earthphase
The watch features an asymmetrical case measuring 42 millimetres in diameter and 13 millimetres thick. The case is crafted from light grey bioceramic. This composite material absorbs light and offers a perfectly matt finish. The fixed black bezel incorporates the tachymeter scale, with a dot positioned above the number 90. The grained dial houses the dual astronomical complication. The black sword-shaped hands and hour markers are coated with luminescent material. The oceanic blue on the globe and the lunar features react to ultraviolet light. An ETA quartz calibre movement ensures the precision of the chronograph functions and celestial phases. The watch is water-resistant to 3 bar. A black technical textile strap with contrasting stitching completes the look.
