The story behind this Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch
In the summer of 2024, the landmark collaboration between Swatch and Omega entered a new chapter with the “Mission on Earth” trilogy. Among these three new variations, the “Desert” model, reference SO33T103, pays homage to the vast expanses of sand that cover more than a fifth of the Earth’s surface. Drawing on the iconic design of Omega’s Speedmaster, this edition features a mineral and natural aesthetic, playing on subtle contrasts between light sand tones and a deep taupe dial. It embodies a more understated and versatile take on the MoonSwatch collection, ideal for everyday wear.
Case, movement and strap of this Desert
The watch is built around the famous asymmetrical case, 42 millimetres in diameter, crafted from light sand-coloured bioceramic. This exclusive material, combining ceramic and castor oil, offers a silky-smooth feel, a completely matt finish and exceptional lightness. The fixed, taupe-coloured bezel is engraved with the tachymeter scale, featuring the historic detail of a dot above the number 90. The dial, also taupe in colour, features a stepped profile that highlights the chronograph sub-dials. The watch is powered by a reliable and precise ETA quartz calibre. The back of the watch reveals a photorealistic image of the Earth as seen from space, centred on the African desert regions, covering the battery compartment. The watch is fitted with a taupe-coloured technical Velcro strap with contrasting light-coloured topstitching.
