The collection unveiled in 2022 by Swatch in partnership with Omega marks a significant milestone in the world of watchmaking. The aim of this collaboration is to reinterpret the design of the Speedmaster Professional in an affordable, contemporary version. The Mission to Mercury model, reference SO33A100, is characterised by its monochrome aesthetic. The use of a dark grey pays homage to the practicality of the on-board instruments used during space flights. The curved lugs reflect the design of the 1969 model.
Case, movement and strap of this MoonSwatch
The asymmetrical case measures 42 mm in diameter and is 13 mm thick. It is machined from bioceramic, a patented material combining ceramic powder and bio-based elements to create a soft finish. The anthracite-grey dial subtly catches the light and features three recessed sub-dials dedicated to the chronograph functions. The black tachymeter bezel incorporates the historic detail of the dot positioned above the number 90. An ETA quartz movement forms the heart of the watch. This mechanism features four synthetic rubies designed to minimise mechanical wear. The watch is water-resistant to a depth of 30 metres. It is secured to the wrist by a flexible black rubber replacement strap fastened with a simple pin buckle.
