The story behind this Swatch MoonSwatch
In March 2022, the watch industry was introduced to the result of an unprecedented collaboration between Swatch and Omega. Developed in the utmost secrecy under the code name Project Galileo, this watch bears the reference number SO33M100 and offers an accessible reinterpretation of the famous space chronograph. The Mission to the Moon faithfully reproduces the proportions of the Speedmaster Professional, adapting it for fun, everyday wear. This precise model meets the need to demystify traditional watchmaking whilst introducing a new generation to the codes of a historic design. The global enthusiasm at its launch proved that utilitarian aesthetics retain a lasting appeal.
Case, movement and strap of this MoonSwatch
The asymmetrical case measures 42 mm in diameter and is 13 mm thick. It is crafted from matt grey bioceramic, an exclusive alloy combining ceramic powder and bio-based plastic. The curved lugs are instantly recognisable as part of Omega’s DNA. The deep black dial features three recessed sub-dials and white hands coated with Super-LumiNova. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial whilst displaying a discreet engraved ‘S’ in its centre. The fixed black bezel features the famous tachymeter scale. Power is provided by the ETA G10.212 ND calibre, fitted with four jewels, which offers a power reserve of approximately 38 months thanks to its battery. This 1/10th-second chronograph is water-resistant to 30 metres. The watch is fitted with a black textured rubber strap, accented with white stitching and fastened with a matt black pin buckle.
