The history of this Omega Speedmaster Racing
Omega built its reputation on the racetrack before its space missions. Launched in 1957, the original Speedmaster was the first chronograph to feature a tachymeter scale on the outer bezel to assist drivers with their speed calculations. This Omega Speedmaster Racing, reference 326.32.40.50.01.001, revives this mechanical heritage. It returns to the tarmac to pay tribute to the collection’s roots. Its design incorporates elements inspired by motor racing, with the textured patterns on the sub-dials evoking radiator grilles.
Case, calibre and strap of this Speedmaster Racing
The asymmetrical stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter. It features the manufacture’s lyre-shaped lugs with alternating brushed surfaces and polished bevels. The fixed bezel features a matt black aluminium ring with a tachymeter scale. Beneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the matt black dial features three sub-dials textured with a Clous de Paris pattern. This chronograph is powered by the calibre 3330. This self-winding mechanical movement, certified as a chronometer, features a Co-Axial escapement and a silicon balance spring. It offers a power reserve of 52 hours. The watch is fitted with a sculpted black rubber strap, the inner profile of which is reminiscent of a racing tyre, secured by a steel folding clasp. It is water-resistant to 100 metres.
