The history of this Omega Speedmaster “Tintin”
This Omega is one of the most emblematic chronographs in watchmaking history, closely linked to space missions and used during all six lunar missions. The so-called “Tintin” Speedmaster is part of this heritage while standing out through a unique visual identity. Inspired by Hergé’s Destination Moon comic, this version adopts graphic elements reminiscent of Tintin’s famous rocket. Although never officially named by Omega, this reference has become a cult model among collectors for its subtle link between popular culture and space exploration.
Case, calibre and bracelet
This Omega is powered by the manual-winding mechanical calibre 1861, an emblematic chronograph of the Moonwatch lineage, featuring 18 jewels, a 48-hour power reserve and a frequency of 3 Hz. The 42 mm stainless steel case is topped with a black tachymeter bezel, faithful to the codes of the Speedmaster Professional. The black dial is distinguished by a coloured chapter ring evoking Tintin’s rocket, complemented by white hands with luminescent coating and luminous indexes. The ensemble is protected by a plexiglass crystal and fitted with a stainless steel bracelet with an Omega stainless steel double folding clasp.
Why this watch
This “Tintin” Speedmaster will appeal to Moonwatch enthusiasts seeking a model that differs from the classic versions. Its unique, instantly recognisable design gives it a strong personality while preserving the technical and historical DNA of the Speedmaster. It combines the authenticity of a lunar chronograph with a graphic touch that has become iconic and highly appreciated by collectors.
