The story of this Rolex Submariner Date
The story of this Rolex Submariner Date begins with one man’s determination. In 1953, René-Paul Jeanneret, a director at Rolex and an amateur diver, persuaded the brand’s founder to design a water-resistant watch that would be as elegant for everyday wear as it was high-performing underwater. The Submariner was born from this vision. The reference 116610LN, launched in 2010, marked a technical turning point. It was the first steel Submariner to feature a ceramic bezel. This model meets the demands of marine professionals whilst establishing itself as an everyday timepiece. Its understated style and robustness make it a benchmark in contemporary watchmaking.
Case, movement and bracelet of this Submariner Date
The 40 mm case is forged from stainless steel, an alloy that is particularly resistant to corrosion. Its design features wide lugs and substantial shoulders to protect the screw-down crown. Water resistance is guaranteed to 300 metres. The unidirectional rotating bezel features a black ceramic insert. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the black lacquered dial offers optimal readability with large geometric hour markers in 18 ct white gold filled with blue luminescent material. A date window at 3 o’clock displays the date under a magnifying lens. The watch is powered by the calibre 3135, a self-winding mechanical movement with 31 jewels. It offers a power reserve of 48 hours and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The three-link bracelet features a safety clasp fitted with an extension system allowing for fine adjustment.
