Rolex introduced the date display via a window with an instant jump at midnight as early as 1945. Twelve years later, the challenge for watchmakers was to miniaturise this complication without compromising chronometer certification. Case, calibre and bracelet of this Lady-Datejust
The 26 mm Oyster case, crafted from 18-carat yellow gold, features a classic rounded silhouette extended by open-ended lugs. The screw-down crown protects the movement. The fluted bezel frames a Plexiglas crystal topped with a magnifying lens above the date window. The champagne-coloured sunburst dial features raised applied baton hour-markers, each set with small, patinated tritium domes. The straight hands glide smoothly across the surface. This timepiece is powered by the self-winding calibre 2030, which oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. A new, adjustable red textured leather strap completes the look with a gold pin buckle.
