The history of this Rolex Datejust 41
The brand made watchmaking history on its 40th anniversary by unveiling the Datejust. This model stood out as the first self-winding, water-resistant watch to display the date in a window on the dial. This detail defines its contemporary aesthetic, as the Cyclops lens was not added until 1953. Historically, Hans Wilsdorf developed this feature for his wife, who struggled to read the date due to poor eyesight. This technical choice is now a visual hallmark of the range. The reference 126334 continues this tradition by retaining the original design whilst incorporating a new-generation calibre.
Case, movement and bracelet of this Datejust 41
This timepiece features a 41 mm case in Oystersteel, complemented by a fluted bezel in solid white gold. The black dial, enhanced by a sunburst finish, features white gold baton hour-markers filled with Chromalight luminescent material. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock beneath the sapphire crystal and its magnifying lens. The 3-link Oyster bracelet, with its polished central sections and brushed sides, is secured by a folding clasp. The watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 3235. This in-house movement delivers a power reserve of 70 hours. Its internal architecture guarantees strict chronometric precision, and the case is water-resistant to 100 metres.
