The story behind this Chopard Happy Sport
In 1993, Caroline Scheufele shook up Chopard’s conventions by creating the Happy Sport collection. The concept was bold, as it combined the robustness of steel with the preciousness of diamonds in a wholly original way. Designed to accompany active women in their daily lives, this range draws its inspiration from the brand’s patented moving gemstone mechanism, invented in 1976. This model, reference 278349-3006, features a square design that defines the dial’s layout and offers a geometric contrast to the diamonds’ freedom of movement. The watch becomes a living object on the wrist, evolving in time with the wearer.
Case, movement and strap of this Happy Sport
The stainless steel case measures 27 millimetres on each side. Its fully polished finish catches the light from every angle. The smooth bezel frames a double flat sapphire crystal housing seven brilliant-cut diamonds. These stones, set in a closed setting in white gold, float freely above a pure white dial. The dial features Roman numerals painted in black and is traversed by three sword-shaped hands in blued steel. The exterior of the watch is distinguished by five cabochon-cut blue sapphires adorning the crown and the ends of the bracelet links. The solid case back protects a Swiss quartz movement, ensuring consistent accuracy in the display of hours, minutes and seconds. The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres. The model is fitted with a steel bracelet featuring polished links, complete with a concealed butterfly clasp.
