The history of this Rolex Oyster Perpetual
With the Oyster Perpetual range, Rolex unveils a contemporary and functional watch. A direct descendant of the first waterproof case designed in 1926 and the perpetual rotor movement invented in 1931, this collection focuses on the essentials. With the reference 126000 introduced in 2020, the Geneva-based manufacturer revisits its heritage from the 1970s and the Stella lacquered dials. This precise model features a turquoise-blue finish that adds a unique chromatic dimension whilst remaining true to the line’s signature minimalist aesthetic. This timepiece meets the demand for a versatile, easy-to-read watch free from any additional functions.
Case, movement and bracelet of this Oyster Perpetual
The 36 mm diameter Oystersteel case features a classic design. Its smooth, polished bezel frames a turquoise blue dial coated with a luminous opaque lacquer. The hours are marked by applied baton hour-markers in white gold, doubled at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions for strict visual symmetry. Night-time readability is ensured by blue Chromalight luminescent material. At the heart of this watch beats the calibre 3230, a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex. It offers a power reserve of 70 hours and incorporates a blue Parachrom hairspring to counteract magnetic fields. Water resistance is guaranteed to 100 metres thanks to the Twinlock screw-down crown. The three-link Oyster bracelet, featuring alternating brushed and polished surfaces, fastens with a folding clasp incorporating the Easylink comfort extension.
Why this Rolex watch
Acquiring this piece represents a sound investment opportunity in the current market. The colourful variations within the Oyster Perpetual range are in high demand, making their availability in official boutiques limited. The turquoise blue colour is particularly prized by enthusiasts for its striking contrast with the dark finish of the case. This model strikes a perfect balance between a practical timepiece and a sought-after collector’s item, without compromising on mechanical reliability.
