The Datejust Turn-O-Graph occupies a unique place in the history of the Geneva-based watchmaker. When it was launched in the 1950s, it established itself as the first mass-produced watch to feature a graduated rotating bezel. This technical innovation caught the attention of the US Air Force. The US Air Force aerobatic squadron adopted this timepiece to equip its pilots, as the bezel allowed them to measure time intervals whilst in flight. It is from this partnership that the reference 1625 derives its nickname, ‘Thunderbird’. This model embodies the fusion of a dress watch and aeronautical instrumentation.

This timepiece features a round case measuring 36 mm in diameter, crafted from stainless steel and 14-carat yellow gold. The polished case middle contrasts with the brushed tops of the lugs. The bidirectional rotating bezel in solid yellow gold features a fluted surface with raised markings. The champagne-coloured dial with a sunburst finish is accented with gold baton hour-markers. A Cyclops lens sits above the domed Plexiglas crystal to facilitate reading the date. The watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 1575. This movement beats at a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour and guarantees a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The two-tone Jubilee bracelet, crafted from steel and yellow gold, wraps around the wrist with the characteristic suppleness of watches from that decade.
