The history of the Prada Saffiano wallet
This pre-owned Prada Saffiano wallet, reference 2MO513, features the leather for which the Milanese fashion house is renowned. Developed by Mario Prada, Saffiano is calfskin embossed with a fine criss-cross pattern and then wax-treated. This process gives it a smooth, scratch-resistant surface that retains its shape over the years. Prada was founded in Milan in 1913, a date inscribed on the triangular plaque that bears the Prada logo on this men’s wallet. When folded, it slips neatly into the inside pocket of a jacket without distorting its silhouette.
Materials, dimensions and finishes
Black Saffiano leather covers both the exterior and interior. When closed, this two-fold wallet measures 11 cm wide by 10 cm high, and 22 cm when open. The black enamelled metal triangle logo, with silver lettering, is positioned at the bottom right of the flap. Tone-on-tone topstitching follows the outline of each flap and the edges are dyed black. Inside, there are 8 card slots – 4 on each side – along with 2 full-length note compartments. The Prada embossing is stamped on the left flap.
