The history of this Chopard Happy Spirit
The Happy Diamonds collection was born in 1976 at the instigation of Ronald Kurowski, who wanted to recreate the sparkle of water drops in a waterfall crossed by the sun. In the early 2000s, the Manufacture went further by exploring kinetics and geometry with the launch of this Chopard Happy Spirit, bearing the reference 20/7061-20 and adding a metaphysical dimension to the design. The concept is inspired by the shock waves created by a drop falling on the surface of water. Each movement of the wrist animates a system of concentric circles and spreads light. This innovative approach to the jewellery watch illustrates the House's mastery of the art of marrying high jewellery and watchmaking technicality.
Case, calibre and bracelet of this Happy Spirit
Fashioned in 18-carat yellow gold, this timepiece features a harmonious 32 mm diameter for a thickness of 8 mm made necessary by the superimposed crystals. The deep black lacquered dial offers a striking contrast with the 2 eccentric moving rings, also in yellow gold. These rings are meticulously set with 242 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 1.48 carats. At the centre of this choreography gravitates a 0.10-carat mobile diamond set in a closed setting, moving freely between 2 anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The timepiece is powered by a Swiss quartz movement guaranteeing absolute precision on a daily basis. The whole is mounted on a genuine black alligator leather strap with square scales closed by an 18-carat yellow gold pin buckle engraved with the name of the manufacture.
Why this Chopard watch
The combination of yellow gold and black dial gives this piece a special and highly sought-after presence. Often available with a mother-of-pearl back, this black lacquered configuration absorbs the light to better bring out the brilliance of the 243 moving gems. It's a kinetic work of art that catches the eye. The second-hand market makes it possible to acquire these spectacular creations on advantageous terms while benefiting from the intact prestige of a great Geneva manufacture.
