The story behind this Tudor Black Bay Chrono
Tudor draws on its motorsport heritage to develop its chronographs. The Black Bay range combines the aesthetic codes of diving with those of speed-measuring instruments. The Tudor Black Bay Chrono M79310N-0001 marks a technical evolution for the manufacture. Historically known for its generously sized watches, such as the Big Block models of the 1970s, the brand now offers a case with more compact proportions to prioritise ergonomics. This model features a yellow dial directly inspired by speedometers from the automotive world, creating a striking visual contrast.
Case, movement and strap of this Black Bay Chrono
The 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter and 13 mm in thickness. The polished sides contrast with the brushed finish of the lugs. The fixed steel bezel features a black aluminium insert with a tachymeter scale. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal, the yellow dial features two recessed black sub-dials. The Snowflake hands point to luminescent applied hour markers. A date window is positioned at 6 o’clock. The watch is powered by the MT5813 calibre. This COSC-certified self-winding mechanical movement has a power reserve of 70 hours and oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It is water-resistant to 200 metres, secured by screw-down pushers and a screw-down crown. The steel bracelet is inspired by historic riveted links and fastens with a folding clasp fitted with a quick-adjustment system.
