The geometric motif of this triangular ring
This 18-carat white gold triangular ring draws on the stylistic elements of Art Deco, a period when the baguette cut provided jewellers with straight lines to create clean, defined shapes. At the centre, three baguette-cut diamonds and four brilliant-cut diamonds come together to form a compact triangle which, from a short distance away, appears as a single stone with a triangular silhouette. The centrepiece totals approximately 0.16 carats, and the set shoulders bring the total weight to an estimated 0.22 carats. The baguettes reflect light in sharp flashes, whilst the brilliants break it down into finer reflections; this contrast brings the design to life with the slightest movement of the hand. Offered here as a pre-owned piece, this unsigned item derives its uniqueness from its design rather than from a signature.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The seven diamonds in the motif are set in claw settings. A brilliant-cut diamond occupies each of the triangle’s three vertices, the baguettes form the sides, and a fourth brilliant-cut diamond marks the centre. Beneath the head, an openwork gallery allows light to pass through the stones from below, lending the setting a sense of lightness. On each shoulder, eight brilliant-cut diamonds are set in shared prongs – a total of 16 stones weighing approximately 0.06 carats – which extend the motif’s sparkle along the band. The pavé setting stops halfway up, whilst the lower section remains smooth and polished, ensuring a comfortable fit between the fingers. The slender band allows the triangle to take centre stage on the hand without weighing down the silhouette.
Why choose this second-hand ring
Creating a geometric pattern with stones of different sizes requires precise setting, stone by stone, and this work accounts for a significant portion of the price of a new piece. As a second-hand piece, this ring features 23 diamonds and an 18-carat gold setting without the added workshop costs. Its angular design, more graphic than a round stone, lends a contemporary look to a diamond ring of a modest size. It can be worn on its own or paired with a slim white gold band.
