The daring engineering of the Happy Diamonds heart
In 1976, designer Ronald Kurowski came up with the concept of free-flowing stones for Chopard after observing water droplets falling in a Black Forest waterfall. This founding vision gave rise to an innovative jewellery aesthetic in which diamonds are no longer static. This second-hand bracelet is fully in keeping with this watchmaking and jewellery heritage. At the centre of its heart motif is a natural brilliant-cut diamond measuring approximately 0.05 carat. Selected according to strict gemmological standards, its estimated F-G colour offers dense, precise brilliance. Fashioned in 18-carat white gold, this pre-owned jewel bears the reference 85/3468 at the heart of its structure.
Architecture and jewellery expertise
The structural integrity of this model rests on a particularly massive Jaseron mesh made up of perfectly circular, thick rings. The frame thus offers a heavy, straightforward drape over the wrist. Geneva's technical expertise is expressed above all in the central motif. The stone moves independently between 2 perfectly sealed and scratch-resistant pure sapphire crystals. The diamond is encased in a delicate bevelled gold setting, a complex engineering designed to enable it to glide over the glass without any mechanical friction. The large lobster clasp guarantees an infallible grip.
Why this second-hand link bracelet
Acquiring such a setting proves a particularly judicious choice. Contemporary jewellery regularly favours finer meshes or hollowed bodies. Here, the density of the precious alloy offers a rare structural robustness and a very generous volume of white gold, characteristic of the opulent creations of this period. This pre-owned bracelet combines the rigour of excellent traditional craftsmanship with a rational and attractive valuation of the raw material.
