The story behind this Rolex Sky-Dweller
Unveiled in 2012, the Rolex Sky-Dweller incorporates an advanced mechanical movement into the Geneva-based manufacturer’s range. Designed for frequent travellers, it meets the need to read several time zones simultaneously whilst incorporating an annual calendar. This mechanism, named Saros in reference to the astronomical cycle, is based on an optimised architecture. It requires only four additional gears compared to a traditional date mechanism, ensuring its reliability. The reference 336235 marks the evolution of this model with the integration of the latest-generation movement.
Case, calibre and bracelet of this Sky-Dweller
The 42 mm case is machined from 18-carat Everose gold, an alloy developed to retain its coppery hue. The fluted Ring Command bezel interacts directly with the movement to select the function to be set. The sunburst chocolate-coloured dial features a local time display, an off-centre rotating 24-hour disc and peripheral windows marking the months in red. The watch is powered by the self-winding calibre 9002, a in-house movement offering a 72-hour power reserve and oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. It is water-resistant to 100 metres. The watch is secured to the wrist by a black Oysterflex bracelet, combining the robustness of a metal link with the flexibility of a technical elastomer, secured by an 18-carat Everose gold folding clasp.
Why this Rolex watch
The combination of Everose gold, the chocolate-coloured dial and the technical bracelet offers a contrasting aesthetic, striking a balance between classic watchmaking and a functional approach. This configuration meets the expectations of collectors seeking a watch with a discreet complication. In the current market, acquiring this model allows you to immediately enjoy a timepiece that remains in short supply at official boutiques.
