The history of this Rolex Sea-Dweller
Rolex presents the reference 126600, designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original 1967 model. This professional diving watch was originally designed to meet the needs of deep-sea specialists working for maritime companies. The black dial features red lettering that pays direct homage to the prototypes of the 1970s. A technical detail characterises this generation of cases, as the manufacturer has incorporated a magnifying lens into the sapphire crystal to view the date. Previously, extreme pressures risked causing this component to pop out, but technological advances and the case design have made it possible to overcome this physical challenge. The inclusion of this magnifying lens visually unifies the collection whilst retaining the utilitarian DNA specific to this timepiece.

The stainless steel case measures 43 mm in diameter and features a helium escape valve on the left-hand side. The unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with a scratch-resistant black ceramic insert featuring platinum markings applied using physical vapour deposition. Beneath the sapphire crystal lies a deep black dial, where the geometric hour-markers and white gold hands are filled with blue-emitting luminescent material. The self-winding mechanical movement is the calibre 3235, offering a power reserve of 70 hours and beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. This movement incorporates an optimised escapement. Water resistance is guaranteed to 1,220 metres. The stainless steel bracelet features a safety clasp incorporating an extension system to adjust to the wrist.
