The history of the Explorer collection has its roots in the 1953 ascent of Mount Everest. This model marks a return to the original 36 mm proportions whilst introducing precious metal to the range for the first time. The 36 mm case combines Oystersteel on its brushed and polished middle section with a smooth bezel in 18-carat yellow gold. The black lacquered dial provides a sharp contrast to the applied Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, which are crafted from yellow gold and filled with blue-emitting Chromalight luminescent material. The watch is powered by calibre 3230, a self-winding mechanical movement offering a power reserve of 70 hours and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The 3-link Oyster bracelet continues this two-tone aesthetic with its polished central links in yellow gold and satin-finished outer links in steel. It fastens with an Oysterlock folding clasp fitted with the Easylink rapid extension system.
