The history of this Omega Seamaster Chronograph Soccer
The Omega Seamaster story began in 1948 with the ambition of creating a robust and water-resistant Swiss watch, capable of supporting professional and sporting uses. In the 1960s, the collection evolved to include chronographs, before Omega turned its attention, in the early 1970s, to a universal sport: football. Moving away from traditional telemeter, tachymeter or pulsation scales, the brand developed a chronograph specifically dedicated to match timing, capable of precisely measuring the 45 minutes of a half. It was in this context that the Seamaster Chronograph “Soccer” was introduced, a utilitarian watch with a bold design, now highly sought after by collectors.
Case, calibre and bracelet
This Omega, reference 145.019, features a 41 mm stainless steel tonneau-shaped case, water-resistant to 120 meters. The grey dial displays three subdials, including two in black and red, with small seconds at 9 o’clock, an hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a dedicated counter at 3 o’clock designed to measure the 45 minutes of a football half. Luminous hands and indexes ensure good legibility. The watch is fitted with a bidirectional internal diving bezel, operated by a crown at 10 o’clock, an uncommon feature for a chronograph of this era. It’s powered by the Omega calibre 861 manual-winding mechanical movement, composed of 17 jewels, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offering approximately 48 hours of power reserve, a movement renowned for its robustness and notably used in the Speedmaster during the 1969 lunar mission.
Why choose this watch
