The history of this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duetto
Created in 1931 to protect the dial from knocks during polo matches in India, the Reverso made its mark with its geometric design. In the late 1990s, the manufacture reinvented this reversible design by introducing the Duetto concept. Instead of featuring a solid metal caseback, the watchmakers devised a watch with two dials driven by a single movement. This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duetto 256.3.75 in white gold exemplifies this mechanical duality. It allows the wearer to switch from a classic configuration to a gem-set aesthetic simply by flipping the case.
Case, calibre and strap of this Reverso Duetto
The rectangular case, measuring 38 mm in length and 23 mm in width, is crafted from 750 white gold. Its swivel mechanism moves smoothly to reveal the watch’s two dials. The first, light-coloured dial features a silver-toned guilloché centre with a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock and blue hands. The opposite dial reveals a dark background and a sunburst centre framed by diamond-set godrons. The watch is powered by the hand-wound Calibre 844. This movement, comprising 100 components, beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a 38-hour power reserve. It is secured to the wrist by a supple black ostrich leather strap fastened with a white gold pin buckle featuring the manufacturer’s original logo.
