The story behind this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
Jaeger-LeCoultre offers a faithful interpretation of its original design. In 1931, whilst travelling in India, the Swiss businessman César de Trey faced a demanding technical challenge: to design a watch capable of withstanding the impact of polo mallets. The concept of the reversible case was devised to protect the crystal of the dial. The Q713842X model follows in this tradition, echoing the aesthetics of the early models. The applied hour markers and the minute track are reminiscent of that era. This timepiece is a testament to great watchmaking expertise.
Case, movement and strap of this Reverso
The stainless steel case measures 45.6 mm in length by 27.4 mm in width, with a thickness of 8.5 mm. The polished finish highlights the fluted edges at the ends. The silver opaline dial catches the ambient light. It features faceted metal hour markers and dauphine hands. A sub-dial for the small seconds occupies the lower part of the dial. The inside of the case reveals an engraved sunburst pattern. The watch is powered by the Calibre 822 hand-wound mechanical movement. This movement offers a 42-hour power reserve. It beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and comprises 108 components. Water resistance is guaranteed to 30 metres. The strap combines textured grey canvas with smooth black calfskin. It is crafted by Casa Fagliano, an Argentine artisan specialising in polo. The whole is secured by a steel folding clasp.
Why this Jaeger-LeCoultre watch
The Tribute collection is aimed at enthusiasts of fine traditional watchmaking. The light-coloured dial offers a very subtle contrast with the strap. This combination adds a contemporary touch whilst remaining true to the model’s original spirit. The partnership with Casa Fagliano reinforces the piece’s equestrian identity. This watch presents an opportunity to acquire a refined and well-balanced timepiece on the pre-owned market.
