In 1980, Carlo Crocco founded his own brand and introduced a new approach to watchmaking. For the first time, he combined a metal case with a natural rubber strap. This unique vision gave rise to the Classic MDM model for Montres Des Montres. Reference 1521.1 exemplifies this aesthetic, characteristic of the 1990s. The choice of rubber required three years of research to develop a material that combined durability with comfort. To mask the raw material’s natural odour, the manufacture incorporated a subtle hint of vanilla into the composition – an olfactory signature unique to the brand’s early productions.
Case, movement and strap of this Classic MDM
This timepiece features a 36 mm stainless steel case, a classic size. The flat bezel has a brushed finish and secures the sapphire crystal with 12 asymmetrical screws. This technical detail contrasts with the sides of the case, which have a mirror polish. Beneath the crystal, the black dial stands out for its complete absence of hour markers, offering a minimalist display of the time via three silver-toned hands. A discreet date window displays the date at 3 o’clock. The watch is powered by a Swiss quartz movement. The watch is worn on a smooth black rubber strap, secured by a double steel folding clasp.
