The history of this Girard-Perregaux Laureato
Girard-Perregaux launched the Laureato model in 1975 to meet the demand for sports watches in steel with an integrated bracelet. Its design is characterised by an octagonal bezel set on a circular base. Reference 81010-11-432-11A belongs to the Eternity Edition series, produced in a limited run of 188 pieces. It stands out for its dial crafted from Grand Feu enamel. Creating this dial requires grinding fragments of silica and metal oxides before melting them at over 800 degrees. A vial containing this raw material is supplied with the watch to physically illustrate this watchmaking technique.
Case, movement and strap of this Laureato
The stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and is 10 mm thick. Its design alternates between flat, brushed surfaces and polished bevelled edges. The blue enamel dial reveals a sunburst guilloché pattern beneath its surface. The applied hour markers and sword-shaped hands incorporate a light-coloured luminescent material. The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the self-winding GP01800 calibre, comprising 191 components. It beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of 54 hours. The integrated solid steel bracelet fastens with a folding clasp.
Why this Girard-Perregaux watch
The Eternity Edition is of particular interest due to the nature of its dial. Unlike traditional paints, Grand Feu enamel retains its colour intensity permanently. This model, produced in a limited edition of 188 pieces, combines the look of a steel timepiece with the technical artistry of enamelling. It meets the expectations of collectors seeking specific hand-finished details in a contemporary design.
