The history of this Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL
This Chopard is a limited series created for the 2006 edition of the famous Brescia–Rome–Brescia race. It’s part of the long-standing partnership between Chopard and the Mille Miglia, active since 1988. Reference 16/8458 marks the arrival of the 44 mm “XL” format, designed to echo the world of Grand Touring cars. The aesthetic draws on racing codes: immediate legibility, dashboard-inspired details and a strap reminiscent of vintage tyres.
Case, calibre and bracelet
The watch is powered by an automatic movement with a 46-hour power reserve and 24 jewels. The 44 mm steel case houses an opaline silver dial with a date at 3 p.m., central seconds, oversized Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, and luminescent hands, all framed by a 60-minute flange. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures clear readability. The laser-engraved caseback depicts the official Mille Miglia route with a polished/satin-finished contrast. The watch comes on a black rubber strap with a vintage tyre pattern and a Chopard steel pin buckle. Water-resistant to 100 m.
