The architectural purity of the Ice Cube range
Launched in 1999, Chopard’s Ice Cube collection introduced a unique geometric approach to contemporary jewellery. Inspired by the geometric structure of an ice cube, this collection favours sharp angles and the absence of curves. This pre-owned ring embodies this vision with its wide, three-row design. Crafted in 18-carat white gold, it features a clean, structured profile. The model, bearing the reference number 82/3803, illustrates the Geneva-based manufacturer’s ability to create a minimalist design, free from any unnecessary embellishments.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The structure of this setting is based on a regular chequerboard pattern of small square blocks, separated by straight grooves. The entire piece features a mirror-polished finish on its outer surfaces, allowing the metal to reflect light with great clarity. On the inside, the band features a brushed central strip, contrasting with the outer surface and protecting the original engravings. This design makes a striking statement on the finger whilst maintaining rigorous symmetry.
Why choose this second-hand ring
Acquiring a piece from the historical editions of the Ice Cube range is both a practical and aesthetic choice. These wide versions require a high density of white gold to ensure their geometric integrity. Given current production methods, the second-hand market provides access to a significant amount of precious metal at a controlled cost, whilst prioritising a design of timeless appeal.
