Chopard’s signature moving diamond
Launched in 1976 under the guidance of designer Ronald Kurowski, the Happy Diamonds collection is based on a specific concept. A diamond is left free to move between two sapphire crystals. At the centre of this pre-owned piece, a brilliant-cut diamond weighing approximately 0.05 carats moves fluidly. This colourless stone captures the light within an 18-carat yellow gold setting. This creation from the Geneva-based maison is presented here in a highly architectural design.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The band of the ring is characterised by a headband-shaped design. Measuring 8.3 millimetres in width, the band is structured by three domed gadroons, creating a fully polished surface. This mirror finish produces crisp reflections on the solid gold. At the top, the heart-shaped motif holds the central stone. The diamond is held in place by a bevelled closed setting, bespoke-designed to slide without scratching the sapphire’s transparency. The absence of a peripheral pavé setting focuses attention on the geometry of the metal.
