The story behind this Chopard Alpine Eagle
Chopard reinterprets its heritage with the Alpine Eagle collection. Launched to appeal to enthusiasts of chic sports watches with an integrated bracelet, it draws its inspiration from the St. Moritz, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s very first watch creation in 1980. This anecdote highlights that this model is the result of an intergenerational legacy. It was his son, Karl-Fritz, who secretly developed a modernised prototype with his grandfather to convince Karl-Friedrich to revive this iconic design. The reference 298601-3002 is very much in keeping with this tradition. Its aesthetic evokes the surrounding Alpine landscape, with the unique texture of its dial reminiscent of an eagle’s iris. It thus asserts a strong and distinguished identity in the contemporary watchmaking market.
Case, movement and strap of this Alpine Eagle
The 36 mm case is crafted from Lucent Steel A223. This exclusive, recycled alloy is distinguished by its exceptional clarity and greater hardness than standard steel. The round bezel is punctuated by eight functional tangential screws and is adorned with a meticulous setting of 36 brilliant-cut diamonds. The genuine mother-of-pearl dial plays with the light on the wrist and features applied Roman numerals, traversed by rhodium-plated hands fitted with luminescent material. At the heart of the watch beats the in-house calibre 09.01-C, a self-winding mechanical movement certified as a chronometer. Assembled from 148 components, it operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. The integrated bracelet extends the architecture of the case with a polished central link framed by brushed surfaces, fastened with a folding clasp. Water resistance is guaranteed to 50 metres.
