The story behind this Baume & Mercier Clifton Club
Baume & Mercier presents a chronograph with the reference number M0A10404, produced in a limited edition of 1,967 pieces. This model pays tribute to the speed record set in 1967 by the New Zealand motorcyclist Burt Munro. On the Bonneville Salt Flats, riding his Indian Scout, he reached 295 km/h. The sandblasted silver dial evokes the texture of the salt flat, whilst the yellow disc displays the number 35 – his race number. The central red hand features a counterweight in the shape of a capital ‘I’, echoing the typography of Indian Motorcycle. This timepiece is aimed at enthusiasts of watchmaking and automotive engineering.
Case, calibre and strap of this Clifton Club
The stainless steel case measures 44 mm in diameter. It features alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces to highlight the architecture of the lugs. A black tachymeter bezel surrounds a flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The solid, screw-down caseback is engraved with the Indian Motorcycle logo and ensures water resistance to 50 metres. The automatic chronograph movement, based on the Valjoux 7750 calibre, features 25 jewels and offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The dial displays the date at 6 o’clock. The watch is fitted with a red calfskin leather strap with a brushed steel pin buckle. A second black leather strap edged in red completes the ensemble.

Contents and condition
This limited edition comes with its special presentation box and an additional black leather strap. The overall condition indicates regular wear. The steel case shows a few micro-scratches, which are normal for a watch of this generation. The original red strap shows a patina and signs of wear around the adjustment points. The second black strap remains in excellent condition. The case can be polished on request to restore the metal to a like-new appearance.
