The history of this Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore
With the Royal Oak Offshore collection, Audemars Piguet unveils a bold vision of high-end sports watchmaking. The Diver model addresses a technical challenge that first arose in 2005 under the name Scuba. To obtain the stringent ISO 6425 certification without compromising the famous octagonal bezel designed by Gérald Genta, the manufacture developed an ingenious internal rotating flange operated by a secondary water-resistant crown at 10 o’clock. This design preserves the watch’s visual identity whilst creating a functional instrument for the deep sea. The reference 15720ST.OO.A052CA.01 follows in this tradition with a contemporary interpretation incorporating ergonomic and mechanical enhancements.
Case, movement and strap of this Royal Oak Offshore
The 42 mm diameter stainless steel case, 14.2 mm thick, features alternating brushed surfaces and polished edges. It frames a khaki-green dial featuring the Mega Tapisserie pattern characteristic of the Offshore range. The applied hour markers and rose gold hands provide a striking contrast whilst ensuring optimal legibility thanks to a luminescent coating. The two-tone green and beige internal rotating flange delineates the diving zone. Powered by the self-winding Calibre 4308, this timepiece guarantees a power reserve of 60 hours at a frequency of 4 Hz. The assembly of 234 components incorporates a blackened 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight, visible through the case back. The watch is water-resistant to 300 metres. The khaki-green rubber strap features a quick-change system and fastens with a large steel pin buckle.
