The history of this Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver
In 1993, Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak Offshore range, offering a more imposing and robust interpretation of the famous 1972 design. The Diver version meets strict specifications designed for underwater exploration. To preserve the silhouette of the iconic octagonal bezel, the manufacturer made the technical decision to place the diving scale beneath the sapphire crystal. This internal rotation is operated via a dedicated crown positioned at 10 o’clock, thereby preventing any accidental adjustment whilst submerged. The reference 15720ST.OO.A009CA.01 is fully in keeping with this tradition.
Case, movement and strap of this Royal Oak Offshore Diver
The 42 mm stainless steel case features alternating brushed surfaces and polished edges. The two grey ceramic crowns accentuate the watch’s technical profile. The dial features the Mega Tapisserie pattern in khaki grey, contrasting with the midnight blue rotating flange and the white gold hour-markers fitted with luminescent material. The self-winding Calibre 4308 powers this watch and can be viewed through the sapphire crystal caseback. This movement, comprising 234 components and 32 jewels, offers a 60-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. It is water-resistant to 300 metres. The midnight blue rubber strap features a quick-change system.
