The history of this Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
Audemars Piguet launched the Royal Oak in 1972, establishing stainless steel as a staple in the world of fine watchmaking. Designed by Gérald Genta, it is characterised by its octagonal bezel secured by eight screws. To mark the model’s 50th anniversary, the reference 15510ST.OO.1320ST.07 was introduced. This update focuses on the clean lines of the dial. The classic monogram has been removed, replaced solely by the brand’s full signature, applied using electroplating. This technical choice modernises the aesthetic whilst respecting the original design.
Case, movement and strap of this Royal Oak
The stainless steel case measures 41 mm in diameter. It alternates between flat brushed surfaces and polished chamfers that emphasise its geometry. The black dial features the regular Grande Tapisserie pattern. It is adorned with applied hour-markers and white gold hands filled with luminescent material, as well as a discreet date window. The watch is powered by calibre 4302, a self-winding mechanical movement comprising 257 components. Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, it features a 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight. This movement offers a power reserve of 70 hours at a frequency of 4 Hz. It is water-resistant to 50 metres. The integrated steel bracelet fastens with a folding clasp.
