The story behind this Vicenterra Tycho Brahe
Vicenterra takes a technical approach to timekeeping by placing the Earth at the centre of its creations. Conceived by independent watchmaker Vincent Plomb, the collection pays homage to the 16th-century Danish astronomer, Tycho Brahe. The model bearing the reference VT.TBT5.X1.25 embodies this philosophy. Its unique feature lies in the incorporation of a miniature three-dimensional globe. This complication offers a constantly rotating geographical display, allowing the wearer to contemplate the planet as it would appear from space. This approach transforms the display of the hours into a precise mechanical reading.
Case, movement and strap of this Tycho Brahe
The asymmetrical case measures 42.8 mm in diameter. It is crafted from solid Grade 5 titanium with a matt black finish. The domed sapphire crystal protects a black aventurine glass dial studded with sparkling inclusions. The off-centre hour and minute display hovers above this textured dial. The rotating sphere is situated in the lower right-hand corner. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the ETA 2892 self-winding mechanical movement, topped with the brand’s module. This mechanism, fitted with 27 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of 42 hours. The watch is water-resistant to 50 metres. It is secured to the wrist by a hand-stitched matt black alligator leather strap, fastened with a titanium pin buckle.
Why this Vicenterra watch
This contemporary edition stands out due to its limited production run of just 49 pieces. It embodies independent watchmaking that combines engineering with bold design. The inclusion of a miniature globe complication remains a rarity on the market. Its sombre design makes it a discreet and technical timepiece on the wrist.
