The story behind this VPC Type 37HW
The young independent watchmaker Venustas Per Constantiam was born out of a unique personal quest. Frustrated at being unable to find a versatile mechanical watch for everyday wear, watch journalist Thomas van Straaten decided to design one himself. He sought to combine the elegance of vintage proportions with contemporary robustness. The Type 37HW model fulfils this need. Unusually for a new brand, its development was shared with the watchmaking community in order to refine every ergonomic detail before launch. This Type 37HW model represents the brand’s very first production series, limited to a total of 300 pieces.
Case, movement and strap of this Type 37HW
The stainless steel case has a diameter of 37.5 mm. The dial features a sandblasted forest green finish that gently catches the light. The applied hour markers and sword-shaped hands are coated with luminescent material. A matt grey sub-dial for the small seconds is positioned at 6 o’clock. The hand-wound mechanical movement is powered by the Sellita SW216-1 chronometer calibre. This certified movement offers a 42-hour power reserve and beats at a frequency of 4 hertz. It is water-resistant to 120 metres. The steel bracelet has a brushed finish and fastens with a secure folding clasp.
