The story behind this Pierre DeRoche GrandCliff
The Pierre DeRoche Maison has its roots in the Vallée de Joux, founded by Pierre Dubois. Stemming from the founding family of Dubois Dépraz, the brand benefits from direct access to complex mechanical complications. The GrandCliff TNT Penta Chrono Flyback model, reference TNT10006ACTI0, illustrates the manufacture’s desire to offer a deconstructed approach to timekeeping. Designed to highlight its modular expertise, this watch openly displays its inner workings. The story behind its creation centres on the development of the calibre 3462, designed specifically to divide the chronograph display into five distinct sections whilst revealing the mechanics of the large date directly on the dial.
Case, calibre and strap of this GrandCliff
The 45.5 mm case combines stainless steel and titanium to ensure robustness whilst keeping the weight on the wrist to a minimum. The bezel frames a sapphire crystal protecting a skeletonised dial. The display is organised around three gear-shaped sub-dials and a double date window positioned at 12 o’clock. The sword-shaped hands, coated in white luminescent material, sweep across this grey and black ensemble, accented with touches of red. The Calibre 3462 automatic movement oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz and features 49 jewels. It offers a power reserve of 42 hours and is water-resistant to 100 metres. The new black alligator leather strap features red topstitching and fastens with a steel folding clasp.
Why choose this Pierre DeRoche watch
Acquiring this timepiece offers the opportunity to add a creation from an independent Swiss watchmaker to your collection. The flyback complication allows the chronograph to be restarted immediately with a single press of the push-piece. The contrast between the case’s volume and the complexity of the Dubois Dépraz module appeals to connoisseurs of sophisticated mechanical watchmaking. Its architectural design and construction give this watch a strong identity.
