The history of this Pierre DeRoche SplitRock
Maison Pierre DeRoche was born in the early 2000s under the impetus of Pierre Dubois, a direct descendant of the founders of the famous complication manufacture Dubois Dépraz. The SplitRock model was created to disrupt the traditional codes of reading measured time. Instead of scattering information across multiple counters, the master watchmakers imagined stacking the hour, minute and second hands of the chronograph on a single axis. This technical feat allows the measured time to be read in the same way as the current time. Reference SPR30001ACI1-002CR01 perfectly illustrates this mechanical and aesthetic boldness, offered in a strictly limited edition of 784 pieces worldwide.
Case, calibre and strap of this SplitRock
Crafted in stainless steel, the rectangular case displays dimensions of 41.5 mm in height and 27 mm in width. Its stepped lines and cylindrical attachments frame a sumptuous bezel set with 108 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 1.49 carats. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the silver dial is adorned with delicate central guilloché. The blued steel sword-shaped hands, like the imposing Roman numerals, receive a luminescent treatment for optimal legibility. The architecture of the dial reveals a small seconds counter positioned at 12 o’clock, a discreet date aperture at 3 o’clock and the famous concentric chronograph counter at 6 o’clock. The sapphire caseback reveals the self-winding mechanical movement, an exclusive Dubois Dépraz calibre incorporating 39 jewels and beating with a 42-hour power reserve. A midnight blue alligator leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching, closed by a solid steel pin buckle, completes this piece.
