The history of this Patek Philippe Calatrava
Patek Philippe unveiled the Calatrava collection in the 1930s to offer a minimalist take on timekeeping. The reference 5226G-001 continues this approach, drawing inspiration from vintage cameras. The designers have created a dial with a grainy texture to evoke the finish of these historic camera bodies. To maintain a smooth, unbroken line around the watch’s perimeter, the engineers developed a technical architecture in which the lugs are attached directly to the case back. This design allows the Clous de Paris pattern to extend uninterrupted across the entire case.
Case, movement and strap of this Calatrava
The case measures 40 mm in diameter and is 8.53 mm thick. Crafted from 18-carat white gold, it combines polished surfaces with a textured edge. The anthracite dial features a black gradient towards the outer edge and displays applied Arabic numerals with beige luminescent material. The automatic calibre 26-330 S C movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours. This 212-part movement controls the hours, minutes, central seconds and date. It is water-resistant to 30 metres. The watch is fitted with a grey embossed calfskin strap with a white gold pin buckle.
