The Omega Constellation bracelet with a pink opal
In 1982, designer Carol Didisheim added two side prongs to the Constellation Manhattan, positioned at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock to secure the crystal. These became the signature feature of the range, and Omega jewellery from the Constellation collection has adopted them as a jewellery motif. This pre-owned Omega Constellation bracelet offers a clear interpretation of this design, in the form of an open bangle in 18-carat red gold, reference BA01BG040010X. It is finished on one side with a pink opal and on the other with a 0.12-carat brilliant-cut diamond. The opal displays a milky, opaque and uniform pink hue, without any play of colour, which the red gold extends seamlessly.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The body of the bangle is a round-section red gold wire, mirror-polished along its entire length. The pink opal, polished to a flat surface, is set in a closed setting within a ring-shaped bezel, framed on either side by the ribbed prongs inherited from the watch. The diamond is set in a closed setting within a small faceted bezel, openwork on the reverse. With no clasp, the bangle slips onto the wrist through its opening, and the two ends meet at the top of the wrist. When worn, the opal creates a flat, matt pink surface whilst the diamond reflects a bright point of light. The chain remains delicate, allowing this bangle to be worn on its own or alongside a watch.
