The story behind this Michel Jordi Titan Single Chrono
Michel Jordi offers a distinctive architectural approach to contemporary watchmaking. In the 2000s, the brand launched the Twins collection, which features two stacked cases that fan out thanks to a cylindrical locking mechanism positioned at 8 o’clock. The Titan Single Chrono model inherits this visual identity. The MT.5500.07.00 model retains this cylinder at 8 o’clock within a single-case design. This element loses its locking function to become an aesthetic feature that defines the watch’s profile.
Case, calibre and strap of this Titan Single Chrono
The 44 mm diameter case combines brushed grade 5 titanium with polished rose gold-plated metal. This contrast in finishes emphasises the wide lugs and the bezel secured by six screws. The watch is water-resistant to 100 metres. The two-tiered dial features a matt black surface topped by a brushed plate with coppery highlights. The display includes an Arabic numeral ‘12’ and luminescent hour markers. It is powered by the self-winding MJ 1948.07 calibre. This mechanical movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 42 hours. It incorporates a flyback chronograph function for the instantaneous resetting of measured times, as well as an annual calendar displaying a large date and the month. The open caseback, protected by a sapphire crystal, allows the black open-worked oscillating weight to be viewed. The watch is worn on a black rubber strap secured by a titanium folding clasp.
Why this Michel Jordi watch
Acquiring this timepiece is a sound choice for enthusiasts of technical watches. The watch market offers few models combining these dimensions with such contrasting finishes. The inclusion of a flyback complication coupled with an annual calendar lends mechanical appeal to this model, which is no longer in production. This configuration is aimed at a buyer seeking a functional timepiece for everyday use.
Contents and condition
This timepiece is supplied in a The Swiss Collector presentation box and does not come with its original documentation. The watch is in very good overall condition with slight micro-scratches from wear, visible mainly on the polished lugs. The brushed titanium retains a smooth surface and the rubber strap remains supple. Given the rose gold-plated finish on the lugs, polishing is not recommended in order to preserve the material.
