The square design of this Cartier Trinity ring
In 1924, Louis Cartier designed a ring consisting of three intertwined, movable bands in rose gold, white gold and yellow gold. Jean Cocteau wore two of them, stacked on his little finger, and never took them off. To mark the collection’s centenary in 2024, the House has redesigned these rings with a square profile, creating the cushion-shaped Trinity with softened corners, whilst retaining the original design principle. This Cartier Trinity cushion-cut ring is the classic model, reference CRB4240600, crafted entirely from 18-carat gold. As a pre-owned piece, it retains the full mobility of its rings, which roll over one another at the slightest movement of the hand.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
Each ring is 3.5 mm wide. Its profile is domed and mirror-polished on the outside, whilst the flat interior features a satin finish that lies flush against the finger. The three frames, with their rounded corners, interlock freely and change order depending on how the ring is worn, so that the sequence of colours varies with every movement. The Cartier signature is engraved in cursive script on the outer surface of the rose gold ring. Each of the three golds retains its own distinct hue: warm rose, pale grey and bright yellow. On the cushion-shaped design, the light falls on the four softened corners of each ring rather than creating a continuous reflection, which defines the square silhouette even from a distance.
Why choose this second-hand ring
The Cartier Trinity cushion ring is still featured in the Maison’s catalogue. This ring offers the classic model, refurbished by our jeweller, available immediately and at a lower price than a new piece. Its square shape gives it a more graphic look than the round Trinity. It can be worn on its own or stacked with other rings, and pairs just as well with a yellow gold watch as it does with a steel one.
