The story behind this IWC Ingenieur
IWC celebrates its commitment to philanthropy with this special edition. The story behind this IWC Ingenieur builds on a partnership with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation that began in 2006. This model bears the reference number IW323310 and pays a subtle tribute to the original 1950s design whilst incorporating a charitable dimension. The case back features an engraving reproducing a drawing by an 8-year-old boy from Mumbai who won the foundation’s annual competition. The children’s figures gathered around a ball serve as a reminder of the positive impact of sport on young people. This approach gives the watch a unique story that goes beyond its purely technical aspects.
Case, movement and strap of this Ingenieur
The stainless steel case measures 42.5 mm in diameter and is 14.5 mm thick. Its sides feature a rigorous brushed finish, contrasting with the mirror-polished finish of the stepped bezel and the bevelled edges of the solid lugs. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal lies a midnight-blue sunray-brushed dial that captures the light with great fluidity. The hours are marked by facetted applied hour-markers and rhodium-plated Dauphine-style hands. A recessed date window at 3 o’clock displays the date with great clarity, whilst a discreet red arrow marks the 12 o’clock position. This design houses the in-house Calibre 80111 movement, featuring the renowned Pellaton automatic winding system. It guarantees a power reserve of 44 hours and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz. The watch is fitted with a midnight blue alligator leather strap, accented with tone-on-tone stitching and secured by a steel pin buckle.
