The story of this Hublot Big Bang
The story of the Big Bang collection began in 2005 under the leadership of Jean-Claude Biver. It introduced the concept of ‘The Art of Fusion’ into contemporary haute horlogerie. This approach involves combining traditional materials with modern technical components. Our model, reference 341.PE.230.RW.174, embodies this watchmaking philosophy. Often nicknamed ‘Porto Cervo’ by collectors in reference to the Sardinian marina, this variant combines diamonds and rose gold with white rubber. A historical anecdote recalls that the inclusion of rubber on a jewellery watch initially surprised enthusiasts before redefining the codes of sporty luxury.
Case, movement and strap of this Big Bang
The 41 mm case is crafted from solid rose gold and incorporates structural elements in titanium. Its layered design is adorned with 198 factory-set brilliant-cut diamonds. The bezel, secured by six H-shaped screws, is set with a further 114 diamonds, totalling approximately 2 carats. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the matt white dial offers a clear readout of the time with its Arabic numerals and applied hour markers in rose gold. It features three sub-dials dedicated to the chronograph function and a date window positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. The watch is powered by the self-winding HUB4300 calibre, whose inner workings are visible through the transparent case back. This movement, comprising 278 components, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and delivers a power reserve of 42 hours. The textured white rubber strap fastens with a rose gold and titanium folding clasp.
