The cascading line
Cascading setting is a classic geometric technique that involves placing the largest stone in the centre and gradually reducing the diameter of the gemstones towards the ends. This second-hand, unmarked ring applies this principle to an 18-carat white gold setting. It features an unbroken arc of 13 natural brilliant-cut diamonds. The total carat weight of this pavé setting is estimated at approximately 0.65 carats. The gradation of the stones follows the curve of the finger whilst maintaining a constant line of sparkle across the back of the hand.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
The structure of this half-round wedding ring is based on a setting designed for visual lightness. The craftsmen have opted for a shared-claw setting, where each fine metal prong simultaneously holds two adjacent stones. This method minimises the gold’s presence along the ridge and exposes the crowns of the gemstones. The side profile reveals an openwork gallery that allows light to pass through the pavilions of the diamonds. The entire ring has been given a full mirror polish.
Why choose a second-hand half-turn ring
Opting for a second-hand half-turn wedding ring allows you to acquire a well-structured piece featuring a generous 0.65-carat pavé setting on a balanced band. The absence of a designer’s signature means the value of the piece lies in the quality of the 18-carat alloy and the precision of the stone grading, offering a sensible alternative to the mark-ups on contemporary designs. This design offers the aesthetic presence of a full band on the top, whilst ensuring the comfort of a smooth ring shank against the palm.
