The story behind this Frederique Constant Classics Worldtimer Manufacture
Frederique Constant bases its philosophy on making fine watchmaking accessible. The Classics Worldtimer Manufacture model embodies this vision with a reinterpretation of a classic complication. Historically, the world time display, invented in the 1930s, required complex mechanisms with additional adjustment levers on the side of the case. The brand has reimagined this architecture for the FC-718N4H6 model. The technical highlight of this model lies in its complete mechanical integration. The engineers have devised an exclusive system that allows the 24-city disc and the local time to be adjusted using only the crown at 3 o’clock, without any additional push-buttons. This streamlined mechanical approach simplifies everyday use for the traveller whilst preserving the purity of the case’s lines.
Case, movement and strap of this Classics Worldtimer Manufacture
The fully polished stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and is 12 mm thick. Its curves frame a blue sunburst dial protected by a convex sapphire crystal treated to reduce reflections. This dial features a matt flange displaying the 24 time zones. The applied hour markers and sword-shaped hands are polished. On the reverse, the open caseback reveals the FC-700 calibre automatic movement. This finely assembled mechanism, featuring 26 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 38-hour power reserve. The bridges are decorated with circular Côtes de Genève patterns and the mainplate with traditional circular graining. The black leather strap fastens with a steel folding clasp adorned with the brand’s coat of arms.
