The history of this Franck Muller Vanguard Slim Vintage
Present since the early 90s, the Franck Muller House has made its mark with its formal audacity, shaking up conventions with its famous Cintrée Curvex shape. The Vanguard collection, launched later, reinterprets this geometry with a sportier, more assertive approach, marking a new stage in the design of the Geneva-based manufacture. The fluid integration of the bracelet with the case, with no visible lugs, gives this line a strong architectural identity. The V 41 S S6 AT FO VIN AC.AC.MC model we present belongs to the Slim Vintage series. This model was developed in response to collectors' desire to rediscover the powerful aesthetics of the Vanguard in a slimmer format, more suited to a shirt cuff. The word Vintage echoes the retro-inspired dials, a subtle tribute to classic watchmaking finishes, contrasting with the resolutely contemporary allure of the case.
Case, caliber and bracelet of this Vanguard
This timepiece is distinguished by its stainless steel tonneau case, measuring 41 mm wide by 50 mm long, for a controlled thickness of 9 mm. Its fully polished finish highlights its intricate curves. The dial, protected by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, has a silvery-gray hue enhanced by a pronounced vertical brushing. Imposing applied Arabic numerals and skeletonized glaive hands, enhanced with luminescent material, ensure optimal legibility. The small seconds complication is judiciously positioned at 6 o'clock. On the back, a sapphire crystal secured by 4 screws reveals the automatic Manufacture caliber FM 708. This movement, with 26 jewels and beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, offers a power reserve of around 42 hours. It features meticulous finishing, such as Côtes de Genève and meticulous circular graining. The whole is mounted on a solid steel articulated bracelet, alternating polished and brushed surfaces, secured by an invisible butterfly folding clasp. Water resistance is guaranteed to 30 meters.
Why this Franck Muller watch
The singularity of this piece lies in the unexpected combination of its features. It's unusual to come across a Vanguard Slim with a retro-style dial mounted on an all-steel bracelet. This hybrid configuration offers a rare versatility, combining the collection's signature statutory presence with a streamlined elegance ideal for everyday wear. The enthusiast will appreciate the contrast between the modernity of the tonneau case and the classicism of the dial's vertical brushing, making this reference a sharp alternative on the second-hand market.
