Louis Cartier’s Three Rings
Designed by Louis Cartier in 1924, the Cartier Trinity ring features three intertwined, movable rings, one for each colour of gold. Jean Cocteau wore two of them stacked on his little finger, and this gesture cemented its place in the House’s history. This small model, reference B4235100, reproduces the original design in white gold, yellow gold and rose gold 750/1000, or 18-carat gold. Offered here as a pre-owned piece, it retains the delicacy intended by Cartier, allowing it to be worn on its own or alongside other rings.
Architecture and jewellery craftsmanship
Each ring is 2.5 mm wide. The half-round profile features a mirror-polished exterior and a satin-finished interior, a finish that clearly distinguishes the three types of gold. None of the rings are soldered or fixed to the others. They slide freely into one another and change order with the slightest movement of the hand, so that the rose gold, yellow gold and white gold never appear in the same arrangement. When worn on the finger, light travels along the half-band, highlighting the transition from one shade of gold to the next. The 2.5 mm width keeps the design light and understated enough to complement a wedding ring or a slim watch.
Why choose this pre-owned ring
The principle of the interlocking bands has remained unchanged since 1924, and a pre-owned ring features the same construction as those found in the Maison’s boutiques. Signed and hallmarked, this Cartier Trinity ring has been restored by our master jeweller, who has given it a workshop polish. Choosing a pre-owned piece gives you access to the Cartier signature and 18-carat gold without the cost of a new creation, for a piece of jewellery you’ll keep for a long time and can wear every day.
