The history of this Cartier Tank Française
Created in 1917 by Louis Cartier, the Tank range draws its inspiration from the geometry of the Renault FT-17 tanks as seen from above. It was not until 1996 that the Tank Française was launched. It marked a major evolution for the House by integrating the metal bracelet directly into the case without breaking the line of the lugs. This reference, W51011Q3, illustrates this architectural continuity. It fulfils the desire for a watch that is both geometric and fluid on the wrist.
Case, movement and bracelet of this Tank Française
The stainless steel case measures 25 mm by 30 mm. Its lugs alternate between a vertical brushed finish and mirror-polished bevels. The octagonal crown is set with a cabochon-cut synthetic blue spinel. The cream-coloured, matt-grained dial features 12 black Roman numerals and a railway-track minute track. Cartier’s secret signature is concealed within the Roman numeral at 7 o’clock. The two central sword-shaped hands in blued steel overhang a date window at 3 o’clock. This timepiece is powered by the Calibre 175 quartz movement, ensuring consistent accuracy day in, day out. The stainless steel bracelet echoes the case’s design with its structured links and fastens with an invisible butterfly clasp. It is water-resistant to 30 metres.
