The story behind this Cartier Pasha
The story behind this Cartier Pasha has its roots in a commission placed in the 1930s. Thami El Glaoui, Pasha of Marrakesh, approached Louis Cartier with a request to acquire a water-resistant watch so that he could swim whilst wearing it. The House fulfilled this request. In 1985, designer Gérald Genta reinterpreted this model. He devised a distinctive geometric design by incorporating a square railway-track minute track within a round dial. This reference 2860 retains the lines of the original design.
Case, movement and strap of this Pasha
Crafted from stainless steel, the 42 mm round case features alternating polished and brushed finishes. It is fitted with Vendôme-style lugs finished with pyramidal studs. The fluted crown is set with a cabochon-cut blue spinel. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the silvered opaline dial reveals a delicate central guilloché pattern and the collection’s signature square motif. The blued steel sword-shaped hands sweep over the large Arabic numeral ‘12’ and the three recessed chronograph sub-dials. The transparent case back reveals the Calibre 8100 MC. This self-winding mechanical movement, designed in collaboration with Jaeger-LeCoultre, comprises 277 components and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, offering a power reserve of 65 hours. The steel bracelet, featuring H-shaped links, is secured by a butterfly folding clasp.

The overall structure remains intact.
