The story behind this Cartier Panthère
Cartier unveiled the Panthère model in the early 1980s to capture the essence of an era hungry for boldness and refinement. More than just a timepiece, this creation is conceived as a hinged piece of jewellery. Its name does not derive from an animal motif engraved on the metal, but pays direct homage to Jeanne Toussaint. Creative Director of jewellery from 1933 onwards, she was nicknamed ‘the Panther’ by Louis Cartier for her free spirit and visionary outlook. The 130000C model draws on this rich heritage by featuring the famous flexible-link bracelet that mimics the feline’s stealthy gait. Designed to hug the wrist with absolute fluidity, this watch has quickly established itself as an essential signature piece for lovers of architectural design and perfect proportions.
Case, movement and bracelet of this Cartier Panthère
This sculptural timepiece, measuring 29 millimetres by 40 millimetres, stands out for its square architecture with softened corners. Crafted from robust stainless steel, the case plays on contrasts with a mirror-finished bezel secured by eight round screws. This luminous frame highlights an ivory dial of great purity. The hours are marked by the iconic black Roman numerals, over which flame-blued steel sword-shaped hands sweep. The date window at 3 o’clock displays the date, whilst the central seconds hand marks the passage of seconds. The watch is powered by a precise quartz movement, offering a power reserve of approximately 24 months. It is worn on the famous braided bracelet with five rows of satin-finished links, secured by an invisible butterfly clasp. The original water resistance is rated at 30 metres.
Why this Cartier watch

It is a wonderful opportunity to own a piece of Parisian design history, whose aesthetic has stood the test of time with quiet confidence and great elegance.
